BAC is a national organization that operates through local action facilitated by our seven city chapters. Contact a chapter near you for information about membership, events, or programming.

Atlanta
Our youngest chapter to date, ATL is budding with new life and potential. Look for events and performances this summer. For more information contact atlanta@blackoutartscollective.com

Boston
The second oldest chapter of Blackout has become known for its dynamic performances at local venues like the Lizard Lounge and Piano’s and its spearheading of the first Lyrics on Lockdown Tour in 2001. Contact boston@blackoutartscollective.com

D.C.
One of the youngest chapters of BAC but by no means the least experienced. Its members bring years of expertise in the performing arts and community organizing that they have utilized to organize events and programs at venues like Café Mowanoj and Sankofa Books. dc@blackoutartscollective.com

Houston
In the biggest state in the Union the Houston chapter makes its voice heard loud and clear using its powerful collaborative performances and workshops to move audiences and communities to action.houston@blackoutartscollective.com

New Haven
From the chapter that brought us the groundbreaking production “What It Iz: Spokenwordical” there is always something new and fresh to experience. You can find the New Havana chapter raising awareness and resources to fight illiteracy, spread the spoken word on the radio and so much more. “Think of Blackout like "Big Mama's House". We have a host of relatives. We got crazy uncles, drunk aunties, thug cousins with their ears to the streets, boo-gee folk that act better than urrbody else. We got proper city folk and down home country folk. We got fam that can articulate in academia, the board room, city and state politics and politic in the projects and prison industrial complex. This is "Home" and you are family. We can leave but we can always come back home. There will always be a room, a chair at the table and a plate of food waiting for you in "Big Mama's House".”
-Michael Bonds, Boston chapter
